Near & Found Listing Standards

What We Accept

Near & Found is for quality furniture, décor, and home furnishings that are ready for another home.

We welcome:

• Furniture for living, dining, bedroom, office, and outdoor spaces
• Lighting, rugs, mirrors, art, and home décor
• Vintage, antique, designer, handcrafted, and well-made pieces
• Quality contemporary furniture in good condition
• New and floor-model pieces offered by approved local businesses

Items do not need to be expensive or designer. Quality, condition, presentation, and usefulness matter more than brand name.

Condition Standards

Items should be clean, functional, and in a condition that is accurately represented in the listing.

• Normal signs of use are welcome—pre-owned doesn't mean perfect.
• Scratches, stains, chips, repairs, fading, or other noticeable flaws must be disclosed and shown in photos.
• Upholstered pieces should be clean and free from strong odors, excessive staining, and pest issues.
• Items that are broken, unsafe, severely damaged, or primarily intended as disposal items may not be approved.
• Restoration or project pieces may be considered when they have clear value and their condition is fully disclosed.

When in doubt, show it. Buyers should be able to understand an item's condition before arranging to see or pick it up.

Photos & Presentation

Good photos help items find the right home. Listings should clearly show the actual item being offered.

• Use clear, well-lit photos whenever possible.
• Include a photo showing the entire item.
• Add additional views and close-ups of important details.
• Photograph any noticeable wear, damage, or imperfections.
• Avoid screenshots, stock photos, heavy filters, or images with distracting text or graphics as the primary photo.
• Make sure the item—not surrounding clutter—is the focus of the photo.

You don't need professional photos. A clean setting, natural light, and a clear view of the item are usually all you need.

Listing Details & Measurements

Give buyers enough information to know whether an item may work in their home.

• Use a clear, descriptive title.
• Provide accurate width, depth, and height measurements when applicable.
• Select the most accurate category, condition, color, material, and other listing details.
• Describe important features, materials, maker, or brand when known.
• Clearly disclose alterations, repairs, missing pieces, or known defects.
• Enter the item's actual pickup location accurately so buyers can find pieces near them.

Measurements don't have to be perfect to the fraction of an inch, but they should be accurate enough for a buyer to determine whether the piece will fit.

Pricing

Sellers set their own prices. We encourage pricing that reasonably reflects an item's condition, quality, age, brand, and local resale market.

• Price the item you are actually offering—not its original retail price.
• Consider condition, age, maker or brand, and comparable pre-owned pieces.
• If an item is significantly discounted because of damage or wear, make that clear in the description.
• Avoid placeholder or misleading prices.

Items We Don't Accept

Near & Found is focused on furniture, décor, and home furnishings that are suitable for resale and ready for another home.

Listings may not be approved for:

• Severely damaged, broken, unsafe, or unsanitary items
• Items with undisclosed stains, odors, pest damage, or significant defects
• Mattresses or used bedding
• General household goods that fall outside Near & Found's furniture and décor focus
• Counterfeit or misrepresented items
• Items prohibited by law
• Duplicate or misleading listings
• Listings primarily intended to advertise a service rather than offer a specific item

Near & Found may decline a listing that doesn't meet marketplace standards or fit the focus of the site. If a listing simply needs better photos or additional information, the seller may be asked to update it before it is published.

60-Day Listing Period

Listings remain active on Near & Found for up to 60 days. This helps keep the marketplace fresh and reduces the number of items buyers encounter that are no longer available.

• If your item sells, please close the listing promptly.
• If the item is still available at the end of 60 days, it may be renewed or relisted for another 60-day period.
• During Near & Found's introductory launch period, eligible individual listings and renewals may be offered at no charge.
• After the introductory period, the current listing fee will apply to each new or renewed listing.

Near & Found may also close listings that appear to be inactive, unavailable, or no longer current.

Listing Approval

Every new listing is reviewed before it appears on Near & Found. Our goal is simply to keep the marketplace useful, trustworthy, and focused on quality furniture and décor.

• Submitting a listing does not guarantee publication.
• Listings that meet the standards are approved and published.
• If a listing needs better photos, additional information, or clarification, the seller may be asked to make changes.
• Near & Found may decline or remove listings that don't meet marketplace standards.
• Sellers are responsible for keeping listing information accurate and closing listings when an item is no longer available.
